What have you given up ?

Went to the zoo last saturday (12 apr 08) with my cousin, R and her husband, K. Their friend, G and his wife, B, with their 2 toddlers (2 and 1 years old), came along too.

We had a great time in the zoo. So many animals to oogle.. haha.. Chimpanzees, baboons, orangutans, white tiger, leopard, jaguar (no, its not a car), otter (very small and cute), hippotamus, crocodiles (got some name.. but cannot rem), flamingos, zebras, rhinocerous, polar bear, giraffe (K's favourite), penguins, deers (many different species), squirrels (small little ones), turtles, tortoises, various species of snakes, and much more. Particularly liked the elephants. Watched their show, Elephants of Asia at work too. Very smart and well-trained.

But the one thing that struck me most was actually just one sentence from G. On that day, both G & B were busy looking after their 2 kids who were both very active and keps running around, so none of them took care of their 2 prams. R offered to take care of the prams for them, telling G not to worry.

G said something that struck - "I have given up (on worrying) on a lot of things (prams & stuffs). The kids are more important.".

Very wise indeed. What is a pram for if there is no child to enjoy it.

I asked myself, what have I given up ? What is more important in my life ?

Is it worth it to lose your temper at your parents when you actually meant well for them ?
Is it better to just talk nicely instead of shouting ?

Lifelong lesson ... jia you !
