Cinderella show..

Last weekend, I really indulged myself… food ? Hahaha… nah…. It was VCDs... hahahaa. I spent the whole Saturday watching this Korean VCD series called, Love in Paris. It is one of those kind of “Cinderella” styled show.

The female lead (Tai Ling) was a Korean who went to Paris to study filming coz it was her late father’s dream for her to experience life over there. Tai Ling was poor, but she had a “never-say-die” attitude, and was always cheerful and thoughtful for others. She always deems others before herself. Tai Ling did part-time work too but as her French was not fluent, she was sacked by the restaurant manager in no-time. The male lead (Zhe Zhuang) was also a Korean and was posted overseas for work, he is actually the Director of a big car manufacturing company back in Korea. Zhe Zhuang is a serious looking man, hyper neat and with a no-nonsense attitude. His whole life revolved around his work and he does not know how to love others. He was a divorcee but even though they were divorced, they remain as good friends.

It so happen that Zhe Zhuang needed a housemaid who could cook Korean food and his secretary found Tai Ling. Thus, Tai Ling started work in Zhe Zhuang’s magnificent castle style house in Paris. All this while, Zhe Zhuang had not even met Tai Ling at all. Tai Ling was a messy and forgetful person. While she enjoyed herself in Zhe Zhuang’s house, she broke his stuffs, messed up his wardrobe, changed his bed sheets to the colours she liked etc etc. After which she would leave small little post-it notes all over the place informing Zhe Zhuang about them. Zhe Zhuang finally got so frustrated that he decided to give her the sack.

After a series of misunderstandings, both Zhe Zhuang and Tai Ling finally met each other. Zhe Zhuang was impressed by the enthusiasm, fun-loving, and cheerful spirit in Tai Ling and for the first time in his life, he laughed at her jokes and had some really good conversation with her. He also decided to re-employ her to work as his housemaid.

During this same period, Zhe Zhuang needed a Korean lady as his partner in order to close a major car deal with a Paris company. And so Tai Ling was roped in to help him. Around this time of the show, another character appeared. He was Zhe Zhuang’s nephew, Xi He, who was also attracted to Tai Ling’s character. Xi He is more of loner and the only person he was closed to was his uncle, Zhe Zhuang, who brought him up and stood by him. They were best of pals.

Anyway, all three came back to Korea after a while, Tai Ling was back cos it was her father’s one year death anniversary, Zhe Zhuang was for work, and Xi He came back to continue his woo of Tai Ling. Under the pressure of his parents, Zhe Zhuang went for a match-making session. But he does not like the girl at all and as in most of such shows, this girl was not good and tried all means and ways to get in between Zhe Zhuang and Tai Ling.

To cut the story short, Xi He expressed his love for Tai Ling, but Tai Ling liked Zhe Zhuang. Zhe Zhuang was not “capable” of loving her as he had no experience in such areas (that explains why his ex-wife divorced him 2 years ago). But Zhe Zhuang tried his very best and as Tai Ling also liked him, she “accommodated” him and “taught” him a lot of stuffs that “normal” lovers would do. There was of coz opposition from Zhe Zhuang’s family coz Tai Ling’s family was really poor while Zhe Zhuang’s family is very rich.

Anyway, they finally got engaged and Xi He was hurt. He also found out that Zhe Zhuang is actually his elder brother and not his uncle. Zhe Zhuang was born out of wedlock when his mother was 17 years old, thus his mother showered all her love on Zhe Zhuang and sort of “ignored” Xi He. Out to revenge, Xi He planned a series of pitfalls for his “uncle-turned-brother” such as by revealing important company secrets to a competitor company. This caused Zhe Zhuang to almost lose his position as the Director of the company but Tai Ling was always there to cheer him up. Though Zhe Zhuang found out later that it was all Xi He’s doings, he managed to overcome all those obstacles and the company came out fine in the end.

Tai Ling, in her bid not to hurt anyone (especially Xi He), decided to cancel her engagement with Zhe Zhuang and leave for Paris again to complete her studies. Zhe Zhuang sent her off tearfully (that was the only time in the show that he actually teared… bravo !) but promised to look for her in Paris once he was done with his work in Korea. Finally 2 years later, he went over to Paris to look for her. While looking, he spent his time working as a car mechanic and lived a very simple life. One fine day, they finally saw each other at the same fountain where they had met a few years back. Praise God. And of coz, they lived happily ever after.. hee hee…

“Cinderella” styled movie isn’t it ? hahahaha… actually, I liked Zhe Zhuang's dimples better ! haha
