Holding Hand

A little girl and her father were about to cross a bridge. The father was a little anxious so he asked his little daughter, “Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don’t fall into the river.”

The little girl said, “No, Dad. You please hold my hand.”

“What’s the difference, darling ?”, asked the puzzled father.

The little girl replied, “Dad, if I hold your hand and something happens to me, I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go.”

In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond. So hold on tight to the hand of the person whom you love.

The above simple and short passage reminds me of our Daddy God’s big hands holding on to our little hands. Many times, especially in difficult and trying circumstances, we were told to “hold on” or to “hang in there”. But perhaps we could think of it the other way, our Daddy God holds on to us too and I know without a shadow of any doubt that He will never let go of His grip on our hands.

Daddy, hold on to me…
