Carpark Attendant

It was a hot lazy afternoon at Holland Village. Many working adults were there for their lunch. Most of them drove, and as they ate nearby where they could watch out for their cars, they did not put parking coupons…

Suddenly someone appeared and all those who did not put parking coupons were alarmed. Guess who ? The Carpark attendant of cos ! Alas, it was too late for some. The Carpark attendant had issued some summons and placed them at the wipers of various cars. One of the drivers arrived at his car just in the nick of time (he thought !) before the Carpark attendant printed out his summon. Too late, the summon was already printed out. Sigh….

He took the summon, and looked at it. To his pleasant surprise, it was not a summon at all ! Rather, it was a notice showing Channel 5’s new programs, their broadcasting date & timing 5 ! (eg. Shooting stars… Full Circle… etc)

It was a commercial guys ! Haha… When I saw the commercial, I laughed out loud cos its was fast moving and for a few seconds, I was like thinking, “wah, carpark attendants print summons hor, action so fast one ah… must be end of month liao.. need to hit target !” hahaha…

Watch out for this commercial yar ?

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones (Proverbs 17:22)

Cup vs Water

A group of working adults got together to visit their University lecturer. The Lecturer was happy to see them.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. The Lecturer just smiled and went to the kitchen to get an assortment of cups - some porcelain, some in plastic, some in glass, some plainlooking and some looked rather expensive and exquisite.

The Lecturer offered his former students the cups to get drinks for themselves. When all the students had a cup in hand with water, the Lecturer spoke: "If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up,leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal that you only want the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all you wanted was water, not the cup, but we unconsciously went for the better cups."

"Just like in life, if Life is Water, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold / maintain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change."

"If we only concentrate on the cup, we won't have time to enjoy / taste the water in it."

Don't give up just yet !

Don’t give up just yet ! Even when things don't happen the way you want it. Don’t give up just yet. There is always rainbow after the rain. Try and try again. You can make it my dear ! Don't let this get you down, you are not so easily defeated by the evil one ! The ultimate winner is you (by Daddy's grace !)

I may not know how to encourage or cheer you up, but I know my Daddy in heaven (who is also your Daddy in heaven) knows what had happened each step of the way and He will send His guardian angels to comfort you, to wipe away those tears of yours. It’s not going to be easy, nobody said its going to be easy. If you need to cry, I’ll always be here for you.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

We have a hope. And that hope is in our Daddy God in heaven who is never late, who never disappoints, always comfort, always there for us all… Jia You !

Let your day be blessed

One my msn friends had that as her nick today. Quite true isn’t it ? We know we are blessed. We have a Daddy in heaven who has done so much for us, caring for our little nitty-gritty needs and wants. But we have to ALLOW Him to bless us. I mean we can choose to depend on our own strength and wisdom when handling our daily lifes or we can choose to rely on Him, trusting in His goodness, His good intentions for us.

It’s a choice we have to make everyday. Indeed, LET your day be blessed
.

Don't take your family & loved ones for granted

Recently a relative passed away. Not really close to that family. We meet once a year during Chinese New Year or some other special occasions such as wedding dinners only. Went for the wake, it was a Taoist ceremony. There was a lot of “dong-dong-cheng”, chanting going on.

As I sat there observing and taking in all these happenings, I was reminded not to take my family and loved ones for granted. Yup, I lose my temper with them or show my black face when things aren’t happening the way I would like them to be. However, ultimately, deep inside my heart, I do love them still. And I do appreciate all that they have done for me. I really do. Perhaps, I am just not too good at expressing myself in this area.

How about you my friends ? Are you the same as me ? Hopefully not.

We are not perfect. None of us are. Only Daddy God is. And He said in His words, that we are to honor our fathers and mothers so our days will be long on this earth. (Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 5:16). Thank you for your reminder, Daddy. I will learn.

Happily Mad

I think I’m mad. But happily mad.

Finally there is work to do. Finally I’m doing something new. Finally I am learning new stuffs. Finally the office is abuzz with so many stuffs happening at the same time. I welcome all those “headaches” or “hiccups” in the various stuffs happening. Feel so “alive”. You can call me crazy, whatever, I don’t care. But I’m happy and Daddy knows it. Yeah.. Thank you Daddy !

Personality Test

Okie, i just did the test too. Kinda accurate for me. :-) I am a NURTURER too.

The four aspects that make up this personality type are: Planner, Facts, Hearts & Introvert.

Summary of Nurturers
1) Care for the important people in their lives
2) Strive for harmony and avoid confrontation
3) Think of themselves as gentle, conscientious, and mature
4) May have trouble making decisions that could hurt others

Nurturers are quiet people who believe in order and diligently look after the people they care about. They focus on the needs of others and establish routines to help them meet their commitments.

Nurturers are the most likely group to say they prefer a job where the same thing happens everyday, according to a UK survey.

Nurturers remember details that are important to them, such as their friends’ birthdays and
anniversaries. People with this personality type value others’ feelings and may challenge behaviour they think is insensitive.

In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Nurturers may feel bitter and seek support by complaining to their colleagues. Under extreme stress, Nurturers may become preoccupied with the worst possible outcome and believe that they are heading for disaster.

Because they are so caring and loyal, Nurturers run the risk of being taken advantage of.

Nurturers are often drawn to jobs that allow them to help others.

Interesting.

Tulips

Tulips - my favourite flower... all colours... thank you Daddy, they are so lovely.

Jokie

Lee Sum Wan : Hello, can I speak to Annie Wan?

Mr.Sori : Yes, you can speak to me.

Lee Sum Wan : No, I want to speak to Annie Wan!

Mr Sori : You are talking to someone! Who is this?

Lee Sum Wan : I'm Sum Wan .And I need to talk to Annie Wan! It's urgent.

Mr. Sori : I know u are someone and u want to talk to anyone! But what's this urgent matter about?

Lee Sum Wan : Well just tell my sister Annie Wan that our brother, Noe Wan was involved in an accident. Noe wan got injured and now Noe Wan is being sent to the hospital. Right now Avery Wan is going to the hospital.

Mr. Sori : Look if no one was injured and no one was sent to the hospital from the accident that isn't an urgent matter! You may find this hilarious but i dont have time for this!

Lee Sum Wan : You are rude. Who are you?

Mr. Sori : I'm Sori.

Lee Sum Wan : You should be sorry. Now give me your name.

Petty

People fight, people argue, people scream, then they ignore you ... why ? Cos they feel they are right thus should win or get what they feel should be theirs in the first place ? Hmm.. perhaps they are right (not the fighting or arguing portion definitely). Still, there is no need to shout or scream down the other party’s ears.

Just last Friday, I had a call from a factory supplier who was just practically screaming over the phone. And it wasn’t my fault really. Initially I tried to explain (of cos !) but he wouldn’t listen and was screaming his head off (even to the extent of shouting some vulgar words too) on the other end. Now that’s really bad. You wouldn’t want to be in my position. So, I gave up. Decided to let him say his piece till he’s satisfied then. Thank God he finally did (after about 15 mins I think). We hanged up. I discuss the issue with my supervisor and decided to send a mail to our product manager on the issues. Boy was I glad I need not work on Saturdays.

Back to work this week. We placed a new order with that same factory supplier. Know what ? He decided to “ignore” our order for 3 days. Yup, he did read our mails. Finally received a reply today after I sent him a 2nd chaser email to follow-up. 10 days. They needed 10 days before our order can be fulfilled. Fine. At least they replied. But talk about being petty. Work is work. Perhaps I was just being sensitive. That factory supplier is not petty, just TOO busy to reply to emails. Haha…

Initial D

Finally watched the movie, Initial D, yesterday with a colleague after work. Enjoyed the car racing portions. Attitude. Like the bored (sianz) look on Jay’s character even when he was actually speeding at such a high speed and making all those dangerous turns. Kinda cool. I wonder if I would puke at the end of the whole car journey if I were the front passenger of his car. Pity the movie did not further develop the characters of Shawn Yue, Edison Chan and maybe Jay’s dad in the show. Perhaps that’s what the producers can consider in its sequel. But still glad I caught this show. Adrenaline was pretty high for me … hahhaa..

He's back !

New (ex) colleague's work-station
Heard that our new (ex) colleague will be back to join our company this week. He resigned last year to move to another country with his family as his wife was posted there. One year later, wife got posted back. And he was asked to join us again. Good, good. Now we have one more chap to add to our "gang". Looking forward to great times ! Cheerio.

My fever broke

My fever finally broke last night ! I’ve been having mild fever on and off for the past few days and it had been torturous. My head felt as though it was many kilograms heavier than usual and that was on top of a blocked nose, cough, sore throat, churning stomach and aching body. I saw 2 doctors, had 2 days of medical leave and still didn’t get any better.

I insisted on going to church bible study last Thursday even though I really did not feel up to it. Found a seat at the last row of the main auditorium. I couldn’t really sing but I still did
(I think I probably sounded like a frog ! Haha… Thank God for gracious neighbours). I manage to sit through the whole service (surprisingly I did not doze off, though my “neighbours” all did ! Seriously, do you think they may have like “fainted” cos of my terrible singing earlier ? Haha). Anyway, I was still feeling terrible at the end of the service, but somehow deep in my heart I know my condition was going to change for the better. I don’t know how, but I just knew.

And it did. I remembered waking up in the middle of the night as I needed the washroom. I felt as if a super heavy load had been lifted off my shoulders, my head was so much lighter and I felt as if I was “floating”. Still drowsy from the medicine, I remembered I went back to sleep thanking God for the manifestation of His healing and seeing that smile that Daddy God had on His face.

From that night onwards, it’s been a up, up for me ! Feeling much better and having that bounce in a walk again. Praise You, Daddy God ! You never fail !

Cold.. Cold..

It’s been almost 2 weeks. My office is so cold that even me, the so-called “hot-queen” (yar.. not that kind of “hot” ok ? It means someone who is not afraid of cold, get it ?) is freezing in the office. Today I even heard one of my male colleagues complained about the temperature.

Since when had “Beijing’s” hot weather come over to Singapore ? Or rather, just my office building here in the west side of our small little country ? Perhaps, like what a friend of mine suggested, the guy manning the thermostat of this whole building had just been transferred from China to Singapore ! Hahaha….

So what are the things we do in office in order to “survive” this WINTER ?

1) Drink HOT water / coffee / tea (wrap both your hands around the cup to absorb the heat emitted from the HOT drink)
2) Put on shawls / pashminas / woollen jacket / windbreakers (drape them over your shoulders or you could use them to cover your shivering legs)
3) Wear stockings (they are a real comfort when you are in such a cold office, trust me)
4) Wear socks
(what ? socks ? Yes, I said socks. Put them on and you will feel almost immediately more comfortable. Most people feel the cold especially on their soles)

So, any other suggestions anyone before we all freeze to our deaths ? Hahaha

Don't think like the world (Faith to Faith)

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

If you think like the world thinks, eventually you will act like the world acts. Unrestrained thoughts produce unrestrained actions. So control your thoughts by bringing them into obedience to the Scriptures.

Program your mind with the Word of God. The Word is spirit and it is life. When your mind is totally saturated with the Word of God, your will becomes strong to exercise authority to overcome every ungodly thought and evil habit.

Don't let Satan deceive you into sacrificing the glory of God in your life for a few moments of self-indulgence and sin. Restrain your thought life. Meditate the Word instead of selfish, carnal thoughts.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.

++++++++++++++++++++

This is so true. Just these few days i have been hearing so many bad reports or complaints from my friends and from my colleagues that frankly speaking, i've become a little discouraged too. But as i go back to Daddy's treasure of words, He showed me again and again how faithful He is, and how much He loves me. And He will make all things beautiful for me. I'm assured.

Dear friends, if you are ever in the same situation as me or face any challenges in life, i encourage you to look unto Jesus, seek Him, tell Him all your problems, your issues and then DON'T TAKE THEM BACK... leave them there in your Daddy's hands... He knows much better than you or me on how to handle that problem. And everytime the evil one comes and taunt you with those negative thoughts or gives you his "words of condemnation" (that kills !), ignore Him, start praising Daddy instead. Believing in your heart that your Daddy God will handle that issue for you not becos you are good (we are not !) or if you deserve it (we don't !), BUT simply becos He loves you. It's that simple.

Just trust Him. He's your Daddy God. He's mine too. Amen !

The Flock (Daily Wisdom 29/06/05)

A flock of sheep was grazing in the pasture where the Shepherd had led them. Some of the sheep began to discuss why the Shepherd took their wool. One group said that He took it simply to prove to them that He was in charge. Another group was of the opinion that He did so because He had no wool of his own; thus He had to wear theirs. Still another group held the opinion that He took their wool for other reasons. The debates went on and on, day after day.

Eventually the flock found themselves divided into smaller groups. The groups would eat in the same pasture, but in different areas. Often the self-appointed "leaders" in the groups would try to persuade members of other groups to join theirs. These leaders would often meet together in the middle of the pasture and butt heads trying to subdue each other. Each one wanted to have a bigger group within the flock. The more they thought they knew about why the Shepherd took their wool, the more they thought they were better qualifi ed to lead the flock than the Shepherd.

Soon these leaders began to criticize the Shepherd Himself. When the grass was long, they griped about how difficult it was to walk through. When it was shorter than they liked, they complained about how hard it was on their necks to stretch down to graze. When there was nothing at all to complain about, they complained that it should be that way all the time. No matter what the Shepherd did for them, they focused on what He didn't do. Whenever the Shepherd chased away a wolf, they complained that He shouldn't have led them near the wolf in the first place. They began to brag about how they would lead the flock if they were in charge instead of the Shepherd. It never occurred to them that they couldn't see as far as the Shepherd could see. They didn't think about the fact that none of them was able to wield the staff to drive away the wolf.

One little ewe, however, wasn't affected by all this debate and division. She wasn't the biggest sheep in the flock. In fact, she was one of the smallest. She certainly didn't produce the finest wool, and her offspring didn't add to the greatness of the flock. She walked with a limp from a broken leg from when she was chased over a precipice by a wolf. Her face was scarred from that attack, too. The Shepherd had found her stuck in the rocks, broken and bleeding. He had taken her in His arms and carried her back to the flock. He set her leg, cleaned her wounds and kept her warm at night while she healed.

She never left the Shepherd's side. She followed Him all day and slept by Him each night. To her, the best pastures were wherever He led her. She listened to His voice all day long. She didn't always understand what He was saying, but she just loved the sound. Her favorite times were when He would sit and let her climb into His arms. There she would put her head on his chest and just quietly listen to His heart beat. That was the most comforting sound to her in the world. That was the sound she had listened to during those long nights when He had held her while she healed. She didn't always understand His words, but she knew His heart.

One day the "leaders" of the various groups within the flock decided to ask her why the Shepherd took their wool, and what He did with it. She looked at them and said, "I have no idea why He takes it, or what He does with it. I just wish I had more to give Him. He's the Shepherd. He may do with me what He wishes." Then she said, "I have to go to Him now. He just found the remains of one of the sheep that wandered away, ignoring His voice, and was devoured by the wolf. He is weeping now, and I can't let Him mourn alone."

Before she left, one of the "leaders" asked sheepishly, "Why do you love the Shepherd so much?"

"Why, Silly," she replied, "Because He loved me first!"

No One Else

Song : No One Else

Verse 1 :
Lord its only by Your grace
That I can worship in this place
O what a great priviledge
To know you face to face

Chorus :
There is no one else like You
No one else
Is as beautiful as You
No one else
Can compare to You
All I want is to worship You

Verse 2 :
Creator of the heavens up above
The stars, the sky and the earth
Only You will I serve
And I'll declare
Your matchless worth

There is a 2nd verse, but I cannot remember the lyrics... hee hee.. will find out soon yar ? Like this song alot alot.. really touches my heart.. It was sung last night during bible study worship.

Thanks to my dear friend, dewey.... I've just received the 2nd verse for this song. Didn't know this song was actually written by our church Pastor Joshua himself. Wow... what an anointed song ! Praise You always Daddy !
