Bather’s Café & Restaurant – Sunset Way

Yesterday we had a company lunch for my general manager’s birthday celebration. We went to this small little brightly lited, cosy restaurant at Sunset Way. Housed in the midst of rows of private landed property semi-detached houses, it is almost hidden if not for the recommendations of Makansutra (a book which lists down all the so-called “good food” in Singapore). Definitely a good hideaway from the bustling traffic (both vehicles & humans !) of town.

Bather’s is basically a sole proprietorship, operated by 2 main persons. They serve excellent Australian food (value for money) and provide superb service. They even had vegetarian food ! Portions are reasonably large and the ingredients used are fresh. Besides the normal ala-carte orders on their menu, they also offer value-added set lunches (Set lunch at S$13.80, Executive set lunch at S$16.80 each, difference being the appetizer).

Yesterday was the second time I been to Bather’s and on both occasions, I chose their Executive Set Lunch, which consists of appetizer, soup of the day (with a slice of garlic bread), main course, followed by tea/coffee and dessert (a scope of ice cream with slice of cake/pastry). I had sea bass as my main course on both occasions (other choices include steak, beef cubes, tiger prawns and vegetarian). Both times they were cooked differently tasting great ! Yummy.

Seriously the prices charged in Bather’s are definitely comparable to places like Jack’s Place or Swensons, but in terms of food & service quality wise, I think Bather’s offer much more. Let’s support them shall we ?

It’s one thing to be famous, another to be popular. Agree ? Even the dictionary’s explanation says as such. A famous person may not be popular, while a popular person is more likely to be famous. A lot of people may know you cos you are famous, but they may not like you. But if you are popular, many people will at least start to notice you and possibly grow to also like you and becos of that, you will be become famous. Interesting..

Getting healed !

I’m twitching as I’m typing this entry. Why ? Cos I had rashes all over my abdomen and arms area. Big, red and puffy (but no water/pus) rashes... I wonder where I got them from. The new Dove shower foam I used last Saturday or the raw food I took (salmon, octopus sashimi & ONE – yes One oyster only) at the buffet hi-tea ? Then I also fell down (on my butts) last Saturday while mopping the kitchen floor (before I left for the hi-tea in the afternoon).

Phew, so exciting isn’t it ? Now I both itch and ache at my lower back (tailbone area).

Nonetheless, I’m still feeling quite “high”, not particularly becos something special happened but rather am reminded that I am the righteously healed and this pain and itch have no right to stay in my body ! Jesus took them all when He hung on the cross and He is now seated at the Father’s right hand cos His job’s done ! So even though I still feel the pain, feel the itch, I still choose to believe that becos of what He has done, I am healed ! Amen amen amen !

You or Car ?

My msn nick 2 weeks ago was “Your car is supposed to take care of you, not vice versa”. Inspiration came from pastor’s sermon the night before where he mentioned that some people refused to drive their cars out when it rain cos they have just washed or polished their cars. They “take care” of their car more than their car “taking care” of them in terms of sheltering and transportation.

Ironically, I just had a colleague who had a new car (2 -3 months old I think), he refused to drive his car out for lunch as it was drizzling and he had just washed & polished his car that morning. Though he still drove in the end, I am almost sure he looked unwilling. Haha

This morning, he came to work with a super black face. We wondered why. Then we found out that his precious car got scratched ! According to him, it was a deep scratch at the driver seat door panel, about 4-5cm. Heart pain sia..

Ha.. what a coincidence that my msn nick coincides with his matter. No way did I mean for it to spite my colleague. I logged in at 8.25am, he reached office at 9.30am. Maybe God is telling me something ? Hmm ..

深呼吸

每个人都有张嘴。嘴最大的用途当然就是用来说话。能说话，可喜可贺，但要如何把话给说好就是件大学问了。如没什么好话(象是风凉话) 时，那就请别开口了。不要为了说话而说话，说的人勉强，听得人也不好受。偶尔静静的，没有人会说你是哑巴。

今天，我被一位“ 为了说话而说话” 的同事冤枉了，觉的有点气，那可不是我的用意。我只是简单的想请同事们吃蛋糕吧了，因为我刚得到公司颁发的5年勤工奖，大家开心，我也开心。他却以小人之心度君子之腹, 实在要不得！既然如此，我也不屑与他一般见识！算了，只要我问心无愧，对的起自己的良心，那就好，毕竟脑袋长在人家身上，人家要怎么想我也无法控制，你说是吗？

His death - His declaration of love - Happy Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine’s Day (again), the day of love, gifts and roses. That is only man’s way of expressing love. How about our Daddy God? How did He express His love for us ? Yeah, that’s right, by giving up His life for us at the cross, bearing all our sins and curses. His death is also His declaration of love for us.

Very touched today. Went for my lunch gym workout as usual. Came back to office. Did not bring any bread from home this morning, so technically no lunch. Thought nevermind, just have some biscuits with green tea then (a little sore throat, so better give that milo drink a miss.. hee hee). I didn’t know that my colleagues actually saved some pizza hut chicken drumlets for me (one of my favourites). Haha… once again, God had blessed me with food (my favourite somemore !). He never fails to provide… really… to me, that’s one of God’s declaration of love.

Thank you Daddy God for being my valentine. You will always be my valentine.

生活点滴之静静地

可曾静静地坐在他身边，什么话都不说吗？

最近我就陪了个朋友，在咖啡厅里坐了个下午，什么都不说，因为没话说，也不知该说什么。我们俩就这样静静地坐着，喝着饮料，时儿想想事情，时儿翻翻杂志，时儿发呆，时儿看着咖啡厅里的其他顾客或外面的路人等。就这样儿，我们俩在那里耗了大概三个钟头。

听起来好象有点儿闷，也似乎是在浪费时间。但在回家的路上，我却有种莫明的解脱，心里很平静，舒坦的感觉。好奇怪。可能好久没有象这样懒洋洋地坐着，什么都不去刻意的想，让心情放个假，松懈及休息。

那晚我真的睡的很好。希望我的那位朋友也和我一样。毕竟好朋友之间，有时真的不需要说的太多。

Puffing and panting, I am running for my dear life. There were 2 guys chasing after me, planning to kidnap me.. Oh no ! They are gaining on me, looks like I have to find some place to hide first. I am in a carpark. I jumped onto a nearby lorry and hid myself the best I could.

Nope, the 2 guys didn’t see me, thank God.. suddenly the lorry’s engine is ignited and the driver drove off, not knowing I am on his lorry! Yeah, I’m free now ! But NO ! The 2 kidnappers saw me, got into their own vehicle and starting chasing the lorry.. Help !!!!

Woke up. 2 dreams within 30 mins. Not bad. Better get up, I do not want to be late for service today. Serving later too. Praise God.

Close my eyes

Sometime this week, while walking to work at the mrt station, I decided to do a little test. If I close my eyes and walk approximately 10 steps, will I still be walking in a straight line (using the tiles on the floor as a guide) or will I steer towards to left or the right. I know for cars if you do not hold on to the steering wheel when driving, the car will either steer left or right depending on the level of the road, right ?

So, after making sure it was safe and that there was no one around that stretch of pathway, I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and tried my very best to walk slowly in a straight line. When I opened my eyes a very short while later, I realized that I had actually veered to the left.

Determined to walk in a straight line with my eyes closed, I tried again and again. I realized that the more I tried, the better I got! Hee hee.. Though I still tend to veer towards to left, the angle got smaller and smaller. Also, I started to notice that I could navigate by the sounds around me. How my footsteps echoed, the traffic of cars, buses and chit-chatting sounds from the crowd of people below the mrt pathway waiting for their shuttle buses to work etc.

Through this small little test, I realized that in the same way, our minds & hearts also need to be fixed on Jesus. When our eyes are on Him, when we look full on His face, all the other things around us will turn dim. He makes our paths straight. He brings us to a different level of understanding & sensitivity to the people and things happening around us. We hear the Holy Spirit whispering inside our hearts more clearly too. Perhaps slowly initially but surely, we will, if we persevere. Amen.

CNY Spring Cleaning

The recent CNY spring cleaning for my family was extra meaningful cos I had a simple yet very true reminder from Daddy God.

As I was busy scrubbing away those dirty, ugly stains & grimes caused by drips of food/soup etc under the stove and also at the sink area that day, I was reminded that Jesus’s death on the cross cleaned & wiped out all those “stains” in my life too ! While some of those “stains” may be visible but I hide some too, so none of my loved ones, friends or people around me can see them.
But God knows every single one of them, no matter how well I hide them. God hates sin, yet He still loves me for who I am. In fact, He loves me so much that He sent His only precious son, Jesus, to die on the cross for me. With that, Jesus’s death and blood shed on that cross totally removed all those ugly “stains” in me so now I can come righteous before the throne of God. None of us can ever fathom the depth and width of His love for each of us. It’s too deep, too wide, too vast..

Thank you Daddy God. It’s not about me or my efforts, but all about You and Your love for me. Amen.

舒服

舒服是什么？是肉体上的感觉, 还是心灵上的慰藉？

有些人觉得躺在自家的床是最舒服的一件事。有些人觉得做自己喜欢的事是最舒服的。有些人觉得什么都不做也很舒服。有些人觉得只要没有压力那就是舒服，又或许只要对的起自己的良心那就是舒服。也有些人快乐或伤心时会想起某人，会想要第一时间与他分享或诉苦。这对他们来说，就是心里的避风港，另一种舒服。

我就觉得肉体上的舒服远比灵上的舒服更容易达到。无声胜有声，听过吗？

Friend : So jealous how come he loves u so much ? I’m so busy today yet he reminds me it’s your birthday. Ha ! I protest!

My Reply : Really..wow.. thank god for you too sister, that you had a listening heart to be sensitive to the holy spirit prompting too ! let’s praise Him ! He loves us.
